A tracheostomy is an opening created in the skin through the trachea (windpipe), just below the larynx. A small hole, called a stoma, is made in the skin, and a tracheostomy tube is inserted into the stoma and trachea. This tube allows your child to breathe in and out.

At Learning Tree PPEC in Orlando and Tampa, we provide full-service care for medically fragile children with tracheostomy tubes. We understand that as a parent of a child with a tracheostomy, you may feel overwhelmed, and that’s completely normal. The Learning Tree PPEC team is here to help!
