Advanced Nursing Care for Medically  Fragile Children with Tracheostomy

A tracheostomy is an opening created in the skin through the trachea (windpipe), just below the larynx. A small hole, called a stoma, is made in the skin, and a tracheostomy tube is inserted into the stoma and trachea. This tube allows your child to breathe in and out.
